LAST CALL: I am finally almost done moving existing posts to Blogspot and deleting them from this site.

This blog will most likely come to an end by May 31, 2014

New posts will also be appearing on the new website as I have time to research.

I’m interested in any information anyone reading this blog has about the LaReunion federal housing project built in late 1943-early 1944 on the old French colony site, north of Fort Worth Avenue, east of Westmoreland, west of Westmount, a little south of the big cement plant. My family lived there from 1944 till 1952 even though the Dallas Housing Authority, who does not name the community on its website, refers to the 2000+ housing units as “temporary wartime housing.” Growing up in LaReunion and attending school at LaReunion felt like nothing temporary to me. The entire community was bulldozed down many years ago; nothing remains of it except memories. I’m writing about growing up in LaReunion, in a place that no longer exists; and I’d like to hear from others who may have lived there or visited friends friends there. Thank you.
